It’s late at night and I was reading some love poems written by Luu Quang Vu – my most favourite Vietnamese poet (and the only one so far). Today was a lazy day. I finished work at 10 o’clock in the morning and sent the translated documents to chi Diem with the message that I would not come to the office on Tuesday (today) and Thursday (I will go to Tho Ha village, Bac Giang province). I went outdoors with my sister then. We stopped at an old-book shop, trying to find something interesting-but-cheap, but found nothing. Actually I liked to buy the novel Chinatown by Thuan, but the slim book was not as cheap as I had expected. I knew the novel is well-known, but 16,000VND (1USD) was unacceptable for an old thin book, especially when I could buy a new “It’s big world and there’s lots to be done” by Kim Woo Choong with only 13,000VND! (2nd floor, no. 5 Dinh Le str. Ha Noi) However, I didn’t hesitate to spend 50,000VND on a cool shirt when we dropped in a sale-off clothes-shop. My goodness I have spent quite a lot of money on clothes recently.
I got to watch some movie on VTC1 (starring Michael Douglas) till 2 pm, and didn’t wake up until 4. Then checked emails and chat with some old friends. At 6pm I turned the computer off and got downstairs for cooking dinner. And in the evening I’ve done nothing other than lying in bed, listening to Burry the hatchet (The Cranberries) , thinking about some friends before turning the computer on. Checked emails and read Daisy’s blog until the stupid connection failed. So now I’m here, composing these nonsense lines in Microsoft Word after typing a poem (Em) of Luu Quang Vu. Some kind of romantic feeling placed me somewhere in the clouds this evening, and that’s why I read his poems. Or perhaps it’s because of Daisy’s blog entry about her colleague’s daughter (“Lovely Taru”).
A report, a field trip proposal, some documents, some books, some volunteer works – they are all waiting for me. This is the last week of July and the 3rd week since my field trip to Quang Binh early this month. Ha Noi is becoming boring to me. Can’t stand passing days at the office only or reading all day. Last week’s talk to anh Cuong and chi Duong at RCED and interesting news from chi Hoa about a Caritas project being extended cheered me up a little bit. Anyway I think there’s no acceptable reason for my laziness.
At the moment I’m listening to some Yahoo! soft rock and about to finish this blog entry. The coffee seems to be helpful. Hope Wednesday will be busy and fruitful so that I can completely enjoy whole Thursday in Tho Ha.
